Treating Trauma from Sexual Betrayal

After more than 10 years of research and study, Dr. Kevin Skinner’s Treating Trauma from Sexual Betrayal offers valuable insight into why a partner’s sexual behaviors outside of a committed relationship creates symptoms that match posttraumatic stress (PTSD). This book provides an in-depth view into the lives of individuals suffering from trauma after sexual betrayal. Using his research data from more than 5,000 individuals who have experienced betrayal, Dr. Skinner outlines why betrayal triggers trauma and then provides the essential tools for healing.

Treating Pornography Addiction

This book carefully walks someone struggling with porngraphy through the steps to recovery. Dr. Skinner discusses how pornography becomes a problem in the mind and how it becomes addictive. Then he teaches the reader how to rewrite the patterns in the mind. It closes with the key steps of recovery. Included in the book is a brief assessment tool "Assessing Pornography Addiction."

Treating Sexual Addiction

Many individuals are struggling to make sense of their unwanted sexual behaviors. Dr. Kevin Skinner begins by defining what sex addiction is and what it is not. Then, using the recovery capital model to explain what successful people do in recovery, he provides suggestions and solutions on how to increase your recovery capital. Learn how to overcome common barriers to recovery, how self-compassion can help you overcome shame, and how to be effective in relationships.

Pornography Use and Loneliness: A Bidirectional Recursive Model and Pilot Investigation

Technological advances of the last half-century have made media a dominant cultural and developmental presence, including scripting sexual relationship attitudes and behavior. Theoretically and empirically, we examine loneliness as it relates to pornography use in terms of pornography's relational scripting and its addictive potential. Empirically, we examine the associative nature between pornography use and loneliness using a measurement model and two structural equation models where pornography use and loneliness are regressed on each other, respectively.

An Examination of the Factor Structure of the Trauma Inventory for Partners of Sex Addicts (TIPSA)

The Trauma Inventory for Partners of Sex Addicts (TIPSA) was hypothesized to have a latent factor structure that mirrors the core criteria for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Data were gathered from 3,199 self-selected respondents, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed in order to substantiate the hypothesized structure.
